A day after United States President Donald Trump attended Saturday afternoon’s SEC showdown between the Texas Longhorns and the Tennessee Volunteers, he was once again in the crowd for a high-profile sporting event, attending the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club just outside of Chicago.
Trump did not speak for long at the event, but he did get a rousing welcome from those in attendance, with spectators breaking out in audible “four more years” chants.
Trump Attends President’s CupTrump, who has attended several high-profile sporting events throughout the coutry since taking office in his second term, was on hand for the start of the final round of the Presidents Cup on Sunday.
While Trump was not expected to give a speech, he was asked to make some brief comments, and he obliged, speaking to the crowd for about a minute.
“These people want to see golf. They don’t want to hear speeches,” Trump said before the final round via the Chicago Tribune. “I’ll only say this: our country is doing great, better than ever before.”
Trump went on to say that Sunday’s action would include some of the best players in the world and he predicted “a very interesting day of golf.”
During his brief remarks, Trump claimed that “the fake news media” would report that he received a negative reaction from the crowd. The crowd followed those comments by expressing their support for Trump.
Following Trump’s brief speech, the crowd could be heard chanting “four more years!” as President Trump pumped his fist in celebration.

Trump has repeatedly teased the idea of running for a third term, mostly in jest, but it’s worth reiterating that the U.S. Constitution does not allow for Trump to run for or be elected to a third presidential term. The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution explicitly states that no person can be elected to the office of the president more than twice.
That clearly did not stop his supporters from chanting about it, though.
