MariaDB Foundation welcomes Kamatera, a global cloud infrastructure provider, as its newest Silver Sponsor.

Kamatera provides scalable cloud servers and infrastructure across a worldwide network of data centres, giving developers and organisations control over where and how they run their applications. That flexibility makes it a natural environment for open-source technologies such as MariaDB, which users can deploy, configure and scale according to their own technical and geographic requirements.

“MariaDB belongs wherever developers choose to build and run their applications,” said Anna Widenius, CEO of MariaDB Foundation. “That requires strong open-source technology and accessible infrastructure around the world. Kamatera’s support helps us strengthen that connection and give MariaDB users another clear path from choosing the database to running it in production.”

As database users look for more autonomy in both software and infrastructure, this sponsorship brings the two together: MariaDB offers an independent, community-developed relational database, and Kamatera offers the flexible compute, networking and storage to run it on.

Through the collaboration, MariaDB Foundation and Kamatera will develop practical resources for users running MariaDB in the cloud and explore ways to make deploying MariaDB on Kamatera easier to discover and understand.

“Open-source technologies give our customers the freedom to build infrastructure around their own requirements,” said Tal Holtzer, CEO at Kamatera. “By supporting MariaDB Foundation, we are helping sustain an important open-source database while making it easier for MariaDB users to take advantage of flexible cloud infrastructure around the world.”

Kamatera joins the international group of organisations whose sponsorship supports MariaDB Foundation’s work on MariaDB Server, open development, documentation and the growth of the global MariaDB ecosystem.
