Chad Lowe’s teenage daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, has died. She was just 13.
The actor and his wife, producer Kim Painter, shared a heart-wrenching statement to Page Six on Tuesday.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” the family said, which also includes daughters Mabel, 17, and 10-year-old Nixie.
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives,” the statement continued.
“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”
The family did not disclose how she died, but they encouraged anyone struggling with mental health to contact 9-8-8, the Suicide and Crisis Helpline.
Parents of children attending Fiona’s school were sent an email from the principal on Tuesday morning informing them that an unnamed student had died, according to Page Six.
Lowe, 58, and Painter, 52, welcomed Fiona in November 2012.
Last year, the 9-1-1: Lone Star actor and younger brother of Rob Lowe shared an Instagram post announcing Fiona entering her teenage years.
“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he captioned a photo of Fiona in 2025. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
Fiona’s 13th birthday came 10 months after the Lowes suffered the loss of their family home in the Pacific Palisades fire.
Lowe shared a post on Instagram after the family went to see the remains of the house where all three girls had grown up, praising his daughters for how they responded to the tragedy.
“Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” he wrote in the February Instagram post at the time.
“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience,” the Pretty Little Liars alum added. “Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
