The Latino Cultural Center will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with three nights of free programming featuring Mexican traditions, live music and comedy Sept. 16-19.

The events, all free and open to the community, will take place at the Latino Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak St. in Dallas.

The celebration begins Wednesday, Sept. 16, with “Corazón Charro: Preserving Mexico’s National Sport,” from 7 to 9 p.m. The event will explore the history and cultural significance of charrería, a traditional Mexican equestrian practice rooted in horsemanship, discipline and community.

The evening will include a seminar on charrería, a mariachi performance and live charro demonstrations. Attendees also will have an opportunity to view Brent Kollock’s charrería exhibition, which is currently on display at the cultural center.

On Friday, Sept. 18, the center will host “En Vivo: Yolanda Cruz & Sabor Puro Cumbia” at 7 p.m. The concert will feature singer Yolanda Cruz and the cumbia group Sabor Puro Cumbia in an evening focused on music and cultural expression.

The celebration will conclude Saturday, Sept. 19, with “Hector Sifuentes & Friends,” featuring comedian Hector Sifuentes, special guests Aldo Loves and Oscar Esca, and music by Danijandro. The event begins at 7 p.m. and is open to people 18 and older.

The center is encouraging community members to attend one or all three events as part of its Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
