(Black PR Wire) MIAMI, FL – Conversations about mental health are becoming more common, but for many in the Black community, stigma, limited access to culturally responsive care, and misinformation continue to create barriers to seeking support.
In a new episode of Black PR Wire’s Thrivin’ in Color podcast, Lauren Carson, founder and executive director of Black Girls Smile, joins host, Camry Brown, to discuss the importance of creating safe spaces where Black women and girls feel seen, supported, and empowered to prioritize their mental wellness.
Throughout the conversation, Carson reflects on what inspired her to establish Black Girls Smile and the organization’s mission to increase mental health awareness while connecting communities with meaningful resources and support. She also discusses the importance of culturally responsive mental health care, breaking down misconceptions surrounding therapy, and fostering environments where honest conversations about mental wellness can flourish.
“Lauren’s work is a reminder that mental wellness begins with creating spaces where people feel safe enough to be seen, heard, and supported,” said Camry. “I hope this conversation encourages listeners to prioritize their own well-being and feel empowered to seek support when they need it.”
