QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario Liberal Interim Leader John Fraser issued the following statement regarding Doug Ford’s cabinet shuffle:

Ontarians were hoping for a plan today. They got a new seating chart.

We now have the has the biggest, most bloated cabinet in Ontario’s history. After eight years in power, we’re seeing the same familiar faces trading chairs while life gets harder.

Doug Ford framed this shuffle around the trade war. Expanding access to support for workers and businesses hit by Donald Trump’s tariffs is sensible — but it opens the door without putting new money on the table. Help needs to be real, easy to access, and there when jobs are on the line, not months later. Ontario will need to do more, and we’ll keep pushing for it.

But a cabinet shuffle doesn’t lower a single grocery bill or protect a single job.

Doug Ford had a chance to clean house. Instead, he protected his own. Piccini is under investigation over millions — so Ford put him in charge of billions. The hotelscandal ministers kept their jobs. Paul Calandra, after months of picking fights with teachers, stays right where he is. And Ford has changed the law so you can’t even file a freedom of information request on these ministers or their offices.

Ontarians deserve better. They deserve a government that answers to them — one that lowers costs, protects jobs, and fixes health care and education. That’s the work
we’ll keep doing every day.
