The Best in Heritage has grown over 25 years into a unique international forum where outstanding achievements become sources of learning and professional advancement for the heritage community. From 11 to 13 November 2026, Barcelona will host the 25th edition of the conference, bringing together an extraordinary array of award-winning museum, heritage and conservation projects from around the world.

The Best in Heritage conference is organised in partnership with “La Caixa” Foundation, the Government of Catalonia, the City Council of Barcelona and Barcelona Provincial Council, and held under the patronage of Europa Nostra and ICOM.

The conference programme will unfold across Barcelona’s most distinctive venues –  CaixaForum Barcelona, El Born – Museu d’Història de la Ciutat, Ateneu Barcelonès, Casa Batlló and the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA).

The programme offers a varied panorama of award-winning practices from across the heritage field, bringing together both internationally renowned institutions and smaller organisations. It spans the full spectrum: from community engagement and social inclusion to digital innovation, environmental sustainability, institutional transformation and the determined work of conservation. 

The conference in Barcelona features some 40 outstanding presentations of national and international award winners from last year, including five laureates of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2025, namely:
