The unusual contest invites enthusiasts to submit at least four of seven different possible types of evidence to its website.
In a press release this month, Hard Mountain Dew has announced that it is launching its first ever 'Bigfoot Bounty' - a contest that will give Bigfoot hunters and enthusiasts the opportunity to win a cash prize of $1 million for providing convincing evidence of the creature's existence.
Bigfoot researcher Bryce Johnson, who has appeared in various documentaries, will be judging the entries which must be submitted to the company's website by the end of November.
To be eligible for the prize, participants must provide at least four out of seven possible types of evidence, which include paw and hand prints, thermal images, hair samples, audio recordings and evidence of environmental remnants (like broken branches etc.) caused by Bigfoot.
Exactly how serious this competition is intended to be remains unclear, but there are certainly signs of it being a little tongue-in-cheek due to the final evidence category being "a photo that appears to catch Bigfoot photobombing you."
"Hard Mountain Dew loves a good contest, even if it involves a creature that only exists in legend (so far!), so don't let reality stop you from having a little fun and give it your best shot," the firm wrote in the press release.
It seems possible that the contest will be won, not by someone who has genuine evidence of Bigfoot, but by the person with the most entertaining or humorous submission.
For that reason, a lot of the entries will probably be tongue-in-cheek.
Whatever the case, it will certainly be interesting to see the winning entry.
