Transgender actor Jack Haven has taken to social media to share a desperate plea for acting work as they struggle to get health insurance to start in January.

The 32-year-old actor, best known for starring in the acclaimed horror-drama I Saw the TV Glow and Netflix's Atypical, explained that they needed to earn $4,000 by the end of the month to qualify for health insurance through the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) for 2027.

Haven, who goes by they/them pronouns, reached out and uploaded a video to YouTube on Friday, titling their message: 'Are You Casting?'

Four days later, they posted another YouTube video with a follow-up message. 

In the first video, the film and television star said they're 'in a bit of an emergency situation' and noted that they have a deadline of less than two weeks for health insurance beginning in January.

'I guess what I'm asking is if you, or if anyone you know, can hire me on a set or production and pay me $4,000, I will do, pretty much, any job,' they said. 

'I can sing. I can dance. I can talk softly, loudly. I can do accents – British,' Haven added. 

On Tuesday, they shared a follow-up YouTube video thanking people for job offers and addressing others criticizing them for not getting a 'real job.' 

'I guess a lot of people saw the video where I asked for $4,000. I got a lot of offers, so thank you guys,' they said.

'Thank you for your love and your kindness. I really feel overwhelmed.'

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Haven for further comment. 

They then suggested that other social media users had reposted their video to spread the message, referencing a trend of TikTok clips accompanied by acoustic music and requests for viewers to interact with the video to help them make money.

'I feel kind of crazy too, because I didn't really expect this many people to see the video and for it to be posted on TikTok with, like, sort of some guitar in the background and stuff,' Haven continued.

'And I totally understand why people are also responding to it with anger and frustration, telling me to get a real job.' 

In response, Haven said: 'Um, that wouldn't really help with healthcare right now, but, um, I don't have any skills.' 

They said they do figure modeling at an art school, joking that 'takes the skill of being still,' and then they delivered some lines to show off their acting chops before signing off. 

In addition to scoring a leading role in I Saw the TV Glow and a main cast part in Atypical, Haven was recently featured in a small supporting role in the acclaimed horror-comedy Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.

The film, which reunites Haven with I Saw the TV Glow writer and director Jane Schoenbrun, features Hacks star Hannah Einbinder as a rising filmmaker who's invited to reboot a long-dead horror franchise with unmistakable similarities to the Friday the 13th franchise and the Sleepaway Camp films.

But a meeting with the reclusive star of the horror films, played by X-Files icon Gillian Anderson, upends the director's life and leads to a sexual awakening, even as a mysterious mass killer threatens to intrude on real life.

Haven's other credits include The Glass Castle, Downsizing, Irrational Man and Bombshell, among other projects. 

They have also ventured into filmmaking and directed two feature films, Haven told The Hollywood Reporter in July. 

'Now, I'm writing the third one,' Haven revealed. 'We're going to shoot in August and September, [and it] is a comedy.'
