MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. Foreign special services tried to derail the elections in Russia but failed to do that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"All attempts to disrupt the election campaign and interfere in our domestic affairs have completely failed. It is well known that such attempts, including those involving terrorist methods and the use of foreign intelligence services, were planned and carried out. But our people have defended the sovereign right of the Russian citizens to decide about their own future," he said at a meeting with the leaders of the parties that won seats in the State Duma, or lower house of parliament, during the recent elections.
