Washington Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal suffered a terrifying neck injury in the second quarter of his team's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Chenal attempted to tackle Seahawks running back Emanuel Wilson with less than half the quarter remaining.

But the fifth-year player out of Wisconsin appeared to lead with his head on the tackle and collided with Wilson's knee.

Chenal immediately went to the ground as medical staff rushed to his aid while teammates surrounded the player. 

Chenal was eventually loaded onto a cart and raised his left hand as he went into the tunnel.

Just before halftime, the Commanders ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

According to the Fox broadcast, Chenal had feeling in all his extremities and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. 

Chenal got the start for the Commanders after an injury to Frankie Luvu, who was out with a groin issue for the second straight week.

The Commanders pulled out an unlikely victory over the reigning Super Bowl champions thanks in part to their injury-riddled linebacker corps.

Up only three points with around four minutes remaining, backup linebacker Kain Medrano picked off Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold and returned the interception for a touchdown to take a 33-24 lead.

The Seahawks would score a late touchdown, but Washington quarterback Marcus Mariota ran out the clock on a 33-31 victory for the Commanders – earning their first win of the season.
