Since the launch of Operation Epic Fury in February, the United States has conducted its most munitions-intensive military campaign in decades. The conflict has consumed thousands of advanced offensive and defensive missiles, placing unprecedented strain on inventories of critical systems such as Patriot interceptors, THAAD interceptors, Tomahawk cruise missiles, and other high-end precision munitions. As policymakers assess the war's long-term consequences, questions about the depth of U.S. stockpiles, production capacity, and military readiness have become central to national security planning.

In this discussion, Tom Karako, director of the CSIS Missile Defense Project, is joined by Mark Cancian, senior adviser with the CSIS Defense and Security Department, to examine the state of U.S. munitions inventories after five months of sustained combat operations. They evaluate ​the campaign's impact on Iran's missile arsenal, which U.S. stockpiles face the greatest pressure, how this affects deterrence in the Indo-Pacific, and what will be required to rebuild inventories in the years ahead.
