Police have dropped the assault case against Real Housewives of Cheshire star Rachel Lugo after her co-star Royston Blythe accused her of physically attacking him, the Daily Mail can reveal.

Police were investigating the bust-up after the celebrity hairdresser, 69, filed a formal complaint, but following a conversation between officers and Royston on Friday, the allegations were dropped.

One source said: 'Police decided to take no further action and advised Royston to drop the case.'

Following the decision, Royston told the Daily Mail: ‘I have decided to drop the case. It was a big decision. I just want it all over and done with. I am a nice person and I don’t want Rachel to go through what I am going through.'

Despite this, Royston still wants an apology from Rachel, 51.

He continued: ‘There has been no real accountability. I haven’t had that. I would like a written apology from Rachel. She hasn’t done that for me.

‘I am still very upset. It’s going to take me a long time to get back to how I am normally. This has affected my mental health. It’s been really bad. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.

‘I can’t cope and I can’t stop thinking about what has happened.’

His husband Nick Malenko, 67, added: ‘The show has always painted us as nasty people so we want to show that we aren’t like that. Deciding to drop the case has been difficult for Royston. What happened has caused him a lot of upset.’

Royston claims Rachel had shoved him with force, leaving him ‘winded and traumatised’ at the £150-a-ticket Empowerment Charity Gala which was being filmed for the hit ITV show's finale. 

He claimed: 'Rachel aggressively pushed her way through his group from behind and went for me.

'She shoved me in the shoulder and pushed me back with such force, I lost my footing and felt winded.

'I ended up phoning the police. It was logged with Crewe Police, before it was moved to Manchester and then Cheshire where Rachel lives.'

One TV insider tells the Daily Mail that ITV and UTAS UK Productions are still deciding if they should air the explosive scenes. 

Royston, who has been seen on RHOC for the past 11 years, has since quit the production following the incident at Northenden Golf Club in Manchester on May 1 and has vowed he will never return to the show.

He also issued a formal complaint to show bosses, and says he has been seeing a psychotherapist to help him deal with what has happened.

‘We have had a lot of abuse online, and it's very upsetting for both of us,' Royston explained.

'The trolling is relentless; it's putting us on edge and it plays on your mind. It's not good for anyone's mental health.

‘The show's duty of care isn’t good enough… they haven’t given me enough support. I get so much abuse online and people tell me they want me dead.’

Businesswoman Rachel, who has been on RHOC since 2017, has not publicly spoken about the allegations, but her fiercely loyal camp has hit back in recent weeks and accused him of exaggerating a minor spat.

Fans feared the incident could end The Real Housewives Of Cheshire, which is one of the franchise’s most popular shows with over 100 million streams worldwide. 

However, those close to the show are protecting it at all costs.
