EXCLUSIVE: Ari Aster has added three more to the cast of his new A24 film, Scapegoat: Fallout‘s Ella Purnell, Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out), and Pluribus breakout Samba Schutte.

Character details are being kept under wraps, as is the film’s logline — keeping the mystery alive is part of Aster’s M.O. Some have speculated that the film is about a doctor who operates on an internet-famous person. Others claim it’s a sci-fi romance, while others believe it’s more of a traditional drama for Aster. Previously announced cast for Scapegoat includes Scarlett Johansson, Jacob Elordi and Jude Law. Aster is directing from his own script, with his partner Lars Knudsen producing via Square Peg.

Purnell currently leads Prime Video’s Fallout and Sky Atlantic’s dark comedy Sweetpea, which airs its second season in November. She’s also known for major roles on shows like Yellowjackets, Arcane, Star Trek: Prodigy and Sweetbitter. Upcoming, she also has the Nicholas Galitzine thriller The Return of Stanley Atwell, as well as Fallout Season 3. Jones is known for collaborations with a wide range of acclaimed filmmakers, including Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Luc Besson (Dracula, DogMan), Justin Kurzel (Nitram), Jim Jarmusch (The Dead Don’t Die), Doug Liman (American Made), Sean Baker (The Florida Project), Jordan Peele (Get Out) and the late David Lynch (Twin Peaks). Upcoming, he’ll be seen in Arkasha Stevenson’s untitled bachelor party horror film for A24. He is repped by UTA, Joey Stanton, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.

Schutte broke out recently with his role of Mr. Diabaté, an apocalypse survivor finding the bright side in what seems to be the end of the world, in Vince Gilligan’s hit Apple series Pluribus, heading into its second season. Previously, he’d been seen on HBO Max’s Our Flag Means Death and NBC’s Kal Penn sitcom Sunnyside. He is repped by Innovative and Established Artists.
