If you'd like to follow in the footsteps of the intrepid explorers travelling around the world, now you can do so – but in comfort and style.

A 371-day cruise journey around the world has been launched by Explorations by Norwegian, the world’s longest continuous scheduled cruise.

While this year's inaugural trip is already fully booked, you can cruise from eight days to 371 days now for next year, departing from Australia. 

The trip will visit 220 ports, with minimal repeat stops and all-inclusive offerings on board.

'Whether you’re a seasoned traveller looking for something fresh and new, or someone who’s ready to embark on their first voyage, Explorations by Norwegian invites you to experience the world in a style that is uniquely yours,' the cruise website explains. 

Lasting 371 days in total, the 2026 journey has just set off from Rome. Next year's offering will last 367 days, starting in February.

So, where will the ship be going? 

In Europe, the cruise line's journeys cover destinations such as Naples, Copenhagen and Helsinki.

Meanwhile, in Africa, you could tick off bucket list destinations such as Cape Verde, Cape Town and Zanzibar. 

Alaska, Japan and Greece are also on the list of stop offs. 

Your journey will take place on the Regatta ship, 348-room vessel that boasts stellar cuisine, an onboard spa and a swimming pool.

Plus, you'll get access to a state-of-the-art fitness centre, onboard library and stylish bar.

While there are shorter journeys available, the cost of the full world cruise starts at £56,000. 

It's not the only exciting cruise this year. 

You could book a stay on the exclusive 'ship-within-a-ship' hiding inside enormous vessels – with private pools, butlers and holidays for £6,000 a week.

And small cruise ships are having a moment, too.

Sea-goers are increasingly discovering this alternative style of cruising, with research showing interest in taking to the seas on more petite craft is growing exponentially. 

There are options ranging from 12-person sailings down the Nile to cruises with butler service on the French Riviera.
