When Adéla first introduced , it was with the lead single “KGB,” a pulsating, bass-heavy record made to be blasted from loud speakers. “No, I’m not being cocky, I just worked my whole life,” she sings on the song, which outlines her journey from Slovakia to the stage. “I wanna pop off so these big mouths can’t say shit.” One glimpse of her in her element is all it takes to shut them up.

Adéla is feeling confident and nerve-free backstage ahead of the show. Last year, the singer told Rolling Stone she’s not usually the type to get pre-show jitters. There’s something that just feels right about what she’s doing. “Even being at the shows — I don’t know how to communicate this without sounding insane, but I’ve visualized it so many times that when I actually got up onstage before my first show, I was not nervous,” she said at the time. “I’m just like, ‘Oh, we’re home.’ “

Adéla titled her debut album Prima as a nod to her background in ballet as well as her ambitions in pop, casting herself as the genre’s prima ballerina — the highest rank in a company — as a declaration of her goals and what she’s willing to endure to get there. “Ballet is really great, because it’s very objective,” Adéla once told Rolling Stone. “Hard work makes you good, and being good gets you the big roles.”

Adéla has already racking up a few pop star signatures, including some instantly recognizable choreography. The move she hits here comes straight out the “KGB” music video, where she delivers an extensive dance break with geometric precision. The choreo took off as a trend on TikTok, though there’s not much room in the tightly-packed crowd for fans to follow along this time. 

Adéla’s dance crew came ready to move. The choreography-heavy set demanded high stamina and high energy for a show packed with 16 songs. The slower and more emotional moments on Prima, like “Hitachi” and “Therapy,” didn’t make it onto the setlist, but the body-rocking “Boys” and “Fantasize” were must-haves. 

Adéla kicked off the Red Bottoms Tour almost one month ago, but she was saving something special for Brooklyn. Midway through her set, she delivered the live debut of “Kiss Here,” an exclusive bonus track from Prima that isn’t even available on streaming at the moment. “Kiss here, grip there, you can bite back,” she sings on the track. “If my pleasure is a puzzle, can you solve that?”

Ask Adéla and she’ll insist all that bright pink hair flows straight out of her scalp that color. Can the same be said for the other pink-heads in the crowd? 

Everyone attending the Red Bottoms Tour seemed to need a touch of pink in their outfit, including these rodeo-ready cowboy hats. 

Adéla’s cult following has been growing steadily in the years since she appeared on Netflix’s Dream Academy. They showed up and showed out the first time she hit the road, on last year’s The Provocateur Tour, but Prima gave them a full world to immerse themselves in with big songs worthy of even biggest singalongs, like her first true breakthrough hit, “Ain’t in LA.” 

In the green room before the show, Adéla sported a blue leather variation of her tour uniform. In other cities, she’s busted out a denim rhinestone version, a shimmering hot pink variant, and a classic black buckle top. 

Styled by Chris Horan, Adéla first debuted her crystallized custom Christian Louboutin ballet boots at Lollapalooza in Chicago. The stilleto has since become a staple in her show, offering a clear answer to the question she asks in “Nicole Kidman”: “Should I wear Louboutins or Jimmy Choos?”

Adéla commands the stage with ease as she breezes through Prima tracks spliced with selections from her debut EP The Provocateur, including “SexOnTheBeat,” “DeathByDevotion,” “FinallyApologizing,” and “SUPERSCAR.”

Fans showed up in droves with hot pink wigs secured to their heads, some cut into slick bobs, others flowing long down their backs — the better style for truly embodying the fantasy of the sleek new single “Nicole Kidman.”

The Red Bottoms Tour will continue with a second night in Brooklyn, followed by stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle, and more through mid-October. In January, Adéla will pick up where she left off with an month-long European leg.
