Fall is officially here, which means it’s time to switch out our wardrobes and assess which of the season’s trends are worth adopting. At least, that’s what Dakota Johnson seems to have done. The actor recently stepped out in comfortable and practical shoes that offer a subtle twist on the timeless ballet flats. Paired with straight-leg jeans, it’s a perfect fall outfit you’re going to want to copy.

The actor could have settled for a pair of basic black flats and the outfit still would have been great. But instead, like the true fashion influencer that she is, she went with a subtle switch-up. Johnson’s dark maroon—almost brown—glove flats match the leaves we see on the ground this time of year and offer a chic way to elevate a pair of cigarette jeans.

The soft, glove-style leather shoe—in her case, the Jane by Khaite—is the hottest trend right now when it comes to flats. Johnson paired them with ripped Levi’s 501 jeans, a basic black top, a cropped checked blazer by Nili Lotan, and rectangular sunglasses by Valentino.

One detail that shouldn’t go unnoticed? Dakota Johnson didn’t completely give up summer: check out her anklets. We’re used to wearing one with sandals during the warmer months, but here the actor adopted it for fall by wearing a delicate gold chain around each ankle. And that is how you do it.
