Billboard chart topping hitmaker OMI is keeping the momentum going with his latest single, “Puppeteer,” set for release on September 25, 2026, via Oufah Music.

The track is the second release in what OMI describes as a new wave of music, following “S.O.B (Standing On Business),” which marked his return earlier this year.

With “Puppeteer,” the “Cheerleader” singer continues exploring the ska, reggae and pop influences that have shaped his sound, this time reaching further back for inspiration from the energy and swagger of 1950s rock and roll.

The upbeat, rhythm-driven record blends vintage influences with a distinctly Caribbean feel, while maintaining the accessible pop sensibility that has helped OMI connect with audiences worldwide.

“I always say, if Elvis had been Jamaican, this is probably the type of record he would’ve made,” OMI told WMV in a statement.

According to the Jamaican star, “Puppeteer” is about honouring the sounds that influenced him while presenting them to a new generation in a fresh way.

The release forms part of a broader creative direction for OMI, with his upcoming music set to explore different eras and sounds that have influenced his artistry. Rather than simply recreating the past, the singer is using those influences as a foundation for contemporary records that bridge generations.

OMI has also remained active on the international stage. Recent performances have taken him across Canada, including appearances at Festi-Voix in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, and Rock The Park in London, Ontario, performing before crowds of up to 20,000. He is also slated to continue his international run with performances in India this December.

The new chapter comes more than a decade after “Cheerleader” transformed OMI into a global star. The record became an international phenomenon and has since surpassed two billion streams on Spotify, securing his place in the platform’s Billions Club.

Now, OMI is drawing on the musical influences that helped shape him from the beginning as he introduces audiences to what comes next.
