MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. Russia rejects any measures that impede safe navigation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said following the inaugural meeting of the Group of Friends of Safe Navigation and Seafarers, held during the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

"In his remarks, Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organizations, emphasized that Russia strictly adheres to international law – primarily the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea – and does not accept selective, politically motivated actions taken by individual states under the pretext of enforcing unilateral restrictions they themselves have imposed," the news release reads.

"He stressed that such measures not only contravene international law but also threaten to disrupt the stability of global maritime logistics, which accounts for approximately 90% of world trade," the Foreign Ministry said.
