Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has unveiled controversial UK sanctions on Israel over 'illegal' West Bank settlements. He lashed out at 'ethnic cleansing' by 'terrorists' in the disputed areas, and announced that companies are set to be banned from helping construct or sell properties in the settlements. 

The push is being coordinated with 11 countries including France and Canada. It was met with a storm of protest, with Israel declaring it will shut the British consulate in East Jerusalem that is accredited to the Palestinian Authority.
