Beloved Woman will bring together women entrepreneurs, graduates, supporters and community members on Wednesday, Oct. 7 for Beloved Women Rise: Changing the Narrative for Female Entrepreneurs: A Lunch & Learn from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Enterprise Center, The Lupton Building, 1010 Georgia Ave. in Chattanooga.

The event will feature inspiring stories from women who have built businesses through Beloved Woman's entrepreneurship program and will offer attendees an opportunity to learn more about how entrepreneurship can create pathways to greater economic opportunity for women and their families.

“Beloved Women Rise is really about celebrating what happens when women are given the opportunity to see themselves differently - to see themselves as capable of building something that can change their lives,” said Sherry Cothran, founder of Beloved Woman.

Officials said, "Since its founding in 2020, Beloved Woman has helped 60 women develop small businesses that can provide a pathway toward living-wage income.

Through its free entrepreneurship incubator, participants receive business education, mentoring, childcare and practical support as they develop and launch their businesses.

"The program has helped 60 women launch businesses in areas including house cleaning, childcare, elder care, pet care and other small businesses."

“These women aren't waiting for someone else to create an opportunity for them,” Ms. Cothran said. “They're creating opportunities for themselves - and for other women who will come after them.”

Beloved Women Rise will also highlight the organization's continued expansion of its entrepreneurship work in Chattanooga, including its growing focus on reaching women in the Alton Park community.

The lunch-and-learn is open to community members, nonprofit leaders, business leaders, supporters and anyone interested in learning more about women's entrepreneurship and economic opportunity.
