The Chicago Bears are dealing with some injury concerns in their quarterback room, but who will be under center against the Philadelphia Eagles?
Speaking to media on Wednesday at Halas Hall, head coach Ben Johnson gave updates on Caleb Williams, who suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss against the Minnesota Vikings, and Tyson Bagent, who is currently in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
With both quarterbacks potentially on the shelf for Monday’s game, Johnson said quarterback Case Keenum will get first-team reps during the first practice of the week, but didn’t go so far as to say Keenum would be the starter against the Eagles.
“We’re at a point right now (where we are) not sure who the starter’s going to be on Monday night,” he said. “We’ll let this thing play out.”
Keenum has been with the Bears since the start of the 2025 season, but has not appeared in any games with the team. He last played in an NFL game in 2023, appearing in two contests for the Houston Texans and throwing one touchdown and three interceptions.
Williams was present at Halas Hall Wednesday, and is participating in game-planning before the Monday contest against the Eagles. He will not practice with the team however, Johnson said.
As for Bagent, he suffered a concussion late in Sunday’s game against the Vikings, and Johnson told reporters he received a text Tuesday updating him on the quarterback’s health.
As a result of being in the concussion protocol, Bagent will not be at Halas Hall until he’s cleared to return to the field, according to the team.
The Bears will not release an injury report Wednesday, but will do so on Thursday instead.
