The government on Wednesday said that it has reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) bringing actors Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Suniel Shetty, Pallavi Joshi and Prosenjit Chatterjee, and Grammy-winning musician Ricky Kej, among others, onto the 18-member board.

The new panel also includes filmmaker Priyadarshan, film critic Vinod Anupam, actor Manoj Joshi, filmmaker Abhishek Jain, singer and former parliamentarian Hans Raj Hans, producer Supriya Yarlagadda, poet and writer Yatindra Mishra, actor Roopali Ganguly, filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda and actor Nishigandha Wad.

“The Government of India has reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with immediate effect for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The reconstitution has been carried out by the Central Government in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, read with Rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024,” an official statement said.

The two members of the previous board that have been retained include Waman Kendre and Ramesh Patange.

In May, former Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati was appointed as the Chairperson of CBFC.
