The Metropolitan Police Department was investigating a homicide Tuesday in east Las Vegas.

Officers were dispatched at 1:46 p.m. to the 1200 block of South Eastern Avenue, near Charleston Boulevard, where they found the body of an unhoused man in his 40s, Lt. Robert Price said at a briefing Tuesday evening.

The man, whom police have not identified, had been shot, Price said.

“The only details we know so far are it appears that individual had been there for quite some time and we believe the shooting took place sometime early this morning,” Price said.

Price encouraged anyone with information to contact Metro homicide detectives or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
