Bradley Farrell hauled in a deep pass from Giovanni D’Elia and went 82 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 1:58 remaining, lifting Kennebunk to a 21-17 win over Cheverus in a Class B South football game Saturday in Portland.

There were five lead changes in the second half. Cheverus (1-2) went ahead 17-14 on a 25-yard pass from Colton Jewett to AJ Lauture with 7:50 remaining, then held the Rams (2-1) on downs at the Kennebunk 39. The Stags couldn’t get a first down, however, electing to punt on fourth-and-3.

Kennebunk took over at its own 16, and on second down, D’Elia rolled out and found Farrell wide open behind the Cheverus defense. The junior running back caught the ball near midfield and ran it in from there.

The only scoring in the first half was a 39-yard field goal by Jackson Holmes of Cheverus less than two minutes into the game.

Both teams scored on their first possession of the second half. Kennebunk’s Peter Landenberger returned the kickoff to the Cheverus 32 and eventually reached the end zone from 3 yards out. The drive was kept alive by a 27-yard pass from D’Elia to Ethan White on fourth-and-8.

Cheverus quickly regained the lead on a 1-yard plunge by Will Baker. Kennebunk, though, moved back in front on a 55-yard run by White with eight seconds left in the third quarter, after a face mask penalty against Cheverus allowed the Rams to maintain possession.

BANGOR 32, DEERING 13: Alex Tennant passed for 243 yards and a touchdown, and Gavin Hughes rushed for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Bangor (2-1) pulled away from Deering (0-3) in Portland.

Tennant, a junior, completed 14 of 22 passes. His 21-yard pass to Obi Okafor in the second gave Bangor a 10-7 lead.

William Houghton made it 17-7 with a 2-run TD run in the third quarter. After Deering’s Nathan Foley scored his second touchdown of the game early in the fourth, Hughes reached the end zone of runs of 50 and 5 yards.

Foley put Deering ahead 7-3 with a 51-yard run in the second quarter.

YARMOUTH 82, CAPE ELIZABETH 40: Stephen Connolly scored seven touchdowns — six on plays longer than 50 yards — and the Clippers (3-0) overcame an 18-point deficit with a second-half onslaught against the Capers (2-1) in an eight-man Large School South game in Yarmouth.

Cape Elizabeth reached the end zone on its first five possessions and led 32-14 early in the second quarter. It was 40-30 in favor of the Capers at halftime, but Yarmouth produced 52 unanswered points in the second half.

Connolly rushed for six TDs — 55, 64, 51, 5, 63 and 84 yards — and caught a 61-yard scoring pass from Iggy McGrath. He also scored four 2-point conversions.

Raphael McGuffie added three touchdown runs, all in the second half. McGrath connected with Jackson Jabar for a 79-yard scoring play in the first quarter.

Cape quarterback Rosco Hampton threw three touchdown passes to Sam Hews, starting with a 77-yarder on the Capers’ second play from scrimmage. He also ran for two scores and hit River Duffy for a 35-yard TD.

NOBLE 5, MASSABESIC 0: Mia Smith scored three goals, and the Knights (5-1) shut out the Mustangs (1-4) in North Berwick.

Tenley Orlando and Ella Dupuis chipped in with a goal apiece. Layla Wurtz, Leah Randall and Erin Hale each got an assist, and Lauren Merchant earned the shutout with four saves.

Massabesic goalie Elizabeth Boudreau made eight saves.

CAMDEN HILLS 5, HAMPDEN ACADEMY/MT. VIEW 0: Alana Smith scored two goals to lead the Windjammers (6-0) past the Broncos (0-5) in Rockport. 

Ali Sylvester added a goal and an assist, while Emery Lyman and Amelia Lincoln each scored once for Camden Hills. 

Mabel Hawkes made 15 saves for Hampden Academy/Mt. View. 

GORHAM 1, NOBLE 0: Cohen Landry broke a scoreless deadlock 11 minutes into the second half, and the Rams (4-1) shut out the Knights (2-2-1) in Gorham.

Carter McGonagle assisted on Landry’s goal.

Gorham keeper Corbin Wilson made two saves. Noble’s Hunter Michaud turned aside 13 shots.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 2, MEDOMAK VALLEY 1: Frido Kuehn headed in a free kick from Santino Campana Valenzuela with about 15 minutes remaining, lifting the Eagles (3-2) to a win over the Panthers (3-3) in Waldoboro.

Lincoln’s Jesus Faura Ruiz opened the scoring nine minutes into the match, off a pass from Will Frost.

Liam Doughty tied it with about 10 minutes left in the first half.

Lincoln keeper Joey Crooker made two saves. Medomak’s Isaiah Feltis stopped eight shots.

FALMOUTH 2, MARSHWOOD 1: Clayton Hickey scored the go-ahead goal on a breakaway early in the second half as the Navigators (2-3) defeated the Hawks (2-3) in Falmouth.

Hickey’s goal came just 40 seconds after Marshwood’s Finn Parker tied the game with a penalty kick. Hickey was sent in alone by Kian Long’s pass from midfield over the Hawks’ defense.

William Davis gave Falmouth a 1-0 lead off a corner kick in the first half.

Navigators keeper Wyatt Binnette made three saves, while Jack Eardley of Marshwood stopped nine shots.
