Yeah agree, SSZ’ifying the EL has been discussed and I’m a big advocate for it. As you say, it’s only the “make the proof small and efficient” part. My feeling is that UTXOs + Trustless Logs will be a great combo.
UTXOs openings should be treated differently from every other log (e.g. they should be parsed by clients and then stored in some separate db efficiently), and to make lookups fast for full nodes that don’t store them, we’d need an efficient way to find the ddata (eip-8304).
