In this talk, Carolyn Laferrière, curator of ancient Mediterranean art, and Nathan Arrington, professor and chair of the Department of Art & Archaeology and Hellenic Studies, will discuss how mortuary objects in ancient Greece could establish intimate connections between the living and the dead, allowing mourners to approach the deceased once again—if only in the mind—and to form communities of remembrance.
The talk is presented in advance of a special exhibition focusing on the more personal aspects of mourning, opening Fall 2028.
