Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa's furious rant is set to land him an FA sanction after he claimed officials 'would not let Man United lose' during Sunday's 1-1 draw.

The Cottagers looked set to see out a famous win over United until Matheus Cunha's late deflected strike salvaged a barely-deserved point for Michael Carrick's side. 

At the heart of Arbeloa's annoyance was the fact that he felt the foul awarded to United, adjudged on Harry Maguire, 35 seconds before Cunha scored was unjust and ultimately cost Fulham three points.

In his immediate post-match comments, Arbeloa could barely contain his anger. 

'Every decision was for them and I knew after the game against Man City that they would not let Man Utd lose. We deserved a little bit more,' Arbeloa said. 

'We were so, so close. We were a little bit unlucky again. We knew it would be difficult against this big team. 

'We knew what happened last week. We have seen what the referee has been doing in all the matches, so it was a difficult game. And we were unlucky.'

Perhaps there had been a word in Arbeloa's ear before his post-match press conference with journalists as he looked to tone down his criticism.  

'My English is not so good,' Arbeloa said.

'Maybe I explain myself so bad and I prefer not to say anything about the referees because you never know.'

Arbeloa's initial rant will almost certainly land him in hot water with the FA as questioning the integrity of match officials or alleging bias is a surefire way to land a hefty fine, or even touchline ban.

Former Fulham boss Marco Silva fell foul of this rule previously, as have many of Arbeloa's peers.  

The result, while not a precious win, is still a step in the right direction for Fulham, who lifted themselves off the foot of the table, condemning Tottenham Hotspur to last place for the first time since 2009.
