Republican AG candidate Michael Allen and Radioactive Victor Marx

Republican gubernatorial candidate Victor Marx seems to have reached the stage where he just wants this whole thing to be over with so that he can return his focus to his “ministry leader” grifting.

Marx is spending money (on consultants, mostly) as fast as he raises it, leaving little left for advertising or voter outreach. His campaign finance and legal problems continue to grow. He avoids talking to local reporters and seems to do most of his campaigning in friendly, though sparsely-populated, areas of the state — and even then Marx puts out AI-created images to hide his radioactivity. Marx’s strategy for the remaining 6+ weeks of the election seems to be mostly about asking supporters to pray more and eat less.

Marx will not attend this weekend’s Club 20 debates on the Western Slope, and as Bente Birkleland reports for Colorado Public Radio, he has ducked out of yet another potential debate without explanation:

Earlier this week, CPR reported a change of heart on the part of Republican candidate for governor Victor Marx when he agreed to a moderated debate with Democratic candidate Phil Weiser on the Aaron Harber Show in early October.

The campaign told CPR that Marx agreed to this debate because the campaign thought Harber would be fair. Harber is the host and executive producer of the nonpartisan political TV talk show.

Harber had few details on where and when the debate would happen. Now Harber and the Weiser campaign confirm that the debate is off. The Marx campaign did not respond to a request for comment on the reasons Marx was no longer participating.

Marx says he won’t debate Democrat Phil Weiser because the media is biased against him, or something; the real reason is that Marx doesn’t know anything and would look foolish trying to answer even the most simple of questions. Marx won’t even accept free media opportunities for the same reason.

Marx never had a real chance of beating Weiser in November because Marx was never interested in being a serious candidate. Marx may have thought that running for governor would be a nice way to earn some extra money and stroke his ego; now he seems to have come to the conclusion that this was all a terrible mistake.

Nobody wants the 2026 election to be over more than Victor Marx.
