iOS 27.2 beta 1 is here with a redesigned Health app.

Apple seeded the first iOS 27.2 beta to developers on Wednesday, giving them the chance to test several notable changes and improvements. 

The company is skipping beta testing iOS 27.1, an unusual move but one with a good “Duo” reason behind it. Below is a rundown of all the new stuff in iOS 27.2 beta 1. (We will update the post as we discover more.)

iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 beta 1: What’s new and changed

iOS 27 isn’t even cold yet, and Apple is already tearing into the next version. The first iOS 27.2 beta lands just days after the big annual update, bringing a redesigned Health app, expanded Siri AI language support and a grab bag of smaller changes.

It offers an early glimpse at what Apple has planned beyond iOS 27 — and, with Apple skipping the usual iOS 27.1 beta for most iPhone users, iOS 27.2 could be the next update that really matters.

The main highlight of iOS 27.2 is the revamped Health app. Apple showed off the app while unveiling the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 at its Surprise and Shine event last week.

The app takes the collected data and provides more insight into the user’s health, including a Readiness score. The new Health app has three tabs: Insights, Longevity and Browse. You can find almost all the data you need in the first two tabs.

There is also a new onboarding animation for Health Assessment and Health Age. 

The new Health app is currently only available in English for U.S. users.

Expanded Siri AI language support

iOS 27.2 beta 1 adds support for more Siri AI languages: French, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Korean.

Anniversary alert in the Phone app

If you save someone’s anniversary in the Contacts app, the Phone app will display an alert when you call that person on that date. This feature presumably should work with birthdays, too.

Overwrite storage

A new security feature in iOS 27.2 beta 1 lets you overwrite the phone’s storage with blank data. The option will supposedly appear when you erase or reset your iPhone.

While the feature is not yet live, it should be available in a future beta build. 

Apple TV profiles on iPhone

iOS 27.2 beta 1 brings Apple TV profiles to the Apple TV app on iPhone. You can view and create new profiles, including child accounts, right from your phone.

App ID migration

Apple may allow developers to migrate existing users to a new app ID. This can be useful if a developer decides to rebuild their app or change their app ID bundle for some reason. 

Code in iOS 27.2 beta 1 suggests Apple is working on a feature to allow developers to migrate users to a new app id if they for example, rebuilt the app from the ground up and are relaunching it fresh.

Who knows, maybe developers would use it to get a new bundle ID, for example…

With iOS 27.1 likely launching alongside iPhone Duo later in October, iOS 27.2 should arrive in November. We expect to see more improvements and changes in the next few beta builds.
