Sauceware Audio, the independent plug-in company founded by Grammy-nominated producer Jacob (Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Bryson Tiller, Metro Boomin), has released Scorch 2, a sample-based instrument that's "built for rap producers, by rap producers", and introduces a full rebuild of their debut plug-in.

The company say that the process of rebuilding the popular plug-in has taken over two years, and was briefly paused during the completion of Spawn, their other flagship product. Scorch 2 builds on the success of its predecessor, and has been created using sounds recorded on an array of analogue synths including the Oberheim TEO-5 and OB-X, Moog’s Memorymoog and Moog One,  Sequential’s Trigon-6 and Prophet-10, Roland’s Super Six and Juno 106, and a Rhodes Chroma among others. 

Two blendable sound sources form the basis of the instrument, and are joined by a central Chaos knob that can modulate just about any of the plug-in’s parameters along with three macro controls: Bite, Space and Motion. Bite controls the amount of saturation applied, while Space governs the plug-in’s delay and reverb effects, and Motion serves as a master control for the speed of all modulation sources. 

Here’s a quick overview of what’s been added in the new version of Scorch:

• A Sampler page giving full access to the A/B sources, with tuning, filtering (low-pass, high-pass and both, in series or parallel), ADSR envelopes and unison/sub playback modes.
• An Effects page with tape echo, three reverb emulations, distortion, chorus and a tape wow/flutter effect.
• A three-track MIDI sequencer with melody, chords and bass tracks that snap generated MIDI to scale off a chord guide track, with each track draggable straight into the DAW.
• A Randomize function that generates usable patches from curated source combinations rather than raw noise.
• Up to 32-voice polyphony, with many presets built to recreate the voice limitations of the original analogue hardware being sampled.

Scorch 2 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.11 and higher. VST3 and AAX plug-in versions are available — note that there is no AAX version, so Pro Tools is not supported.

Scorch 2 is available now, and is currently (8 September 2026) being offered at an introductory price of $79, reduced from its full cost of $159.
