Audient’s new audio interface series runs via Thunderbolt 3, and allows users to combine multiple units to reach an impressive 200x200 channel count.
Audient’s latest announcement sees the company introduce three new high-end audio interfaces designed specifically for the professional studio market. The Horizon 8P, Horizon 16 and Horizon 32 all come equipped with 32-bit “mastering-grade” converters, can achieve sub-millisecond round-trip latency figures and, thanks to Thunderbolt connectivity, users can combine multiple units to reach channel counts of up to 200x200 on a single macOS driver.
Horizon Series BreakdownAll three of the new interfaces occupy a 1U chassis and share the same core architecture. They operate via Thunderbolt 3 and are capable of delivering a round-trip latency figure of 0.99ms when operating at 192kHz, making it possible for users to track through native plug-ins rather than relying on proprietary DSP chips and locked ecosystems. Here’s a quick look at what each unit has to offer:
Horizon 8PDesigned for tracking studios, the Horizon 8P is a 24-in / 32-out interface that includes eight Audient Console Mic Preamps with ORBIT Control variable impedance. Eight XLR/TRS combo sockets handle mic and line-level inputs, while a pair of DB25 connectors duplicate the line-level inputs and offer eight line-level outputs. An additional four line-level outputs are provided on TRS sockets, and there are 16 digital inputs and outputs via ADAT.
Horizon 16The Horizon 16 is a 34-in / 34-out interface aimed at hybrid studios. Four DB25 connectors offer 16 line-level inputs and outputs, with an additional two inputs and outputs provided by TRS sockets.
Horizon 32The largest of the Horizon series interfaces has been created for large-format hybrid facilities. It’s a 50-in / 50-out interface with 64 channels of analogue I/O provided by eight DB25 connectors, and again, includes an additional two line-level inputs and outputs via TRS and 16 channels of ADAT I/O.
The Horizon architecture supports up to four daisy-chained units on a single macOS driver, and offers a maximum channel count of 200×200 I/O when configured with four Horizon 32 units. Every model shares the same core specification, including digital recall of all input gains and system settings, ADAT expansion, BNC Word Clock I/O and selectable reference levels for calibrating analogue outboard equipment.
Pricing & Availability"Horizon has been five years in the making; the most significant R&D investment we've ever put into a product range. We made no compromises at the component level, and the result is best-on-the-market audio and latency performance. This is a modern system built for modern workflows." — Andrew Allen, Chief Product Officer, Audient
The Horizon interfaces will be available on 28 September 2026, priced as follows:
