Schwabe Digital have just released a major free update for their acclaimed high-frequency dynamics processing plug-in. HiFAL 2 takes a significant step forward and introduces a new Parallel Limiter with frequency-dependent stereo widening, three newly developed filter architectures, expanded oversampling, a Match Volume function, updated metering and a redesigned interface. 

The latest version also expands the plug-in’s Parallel Limiter (PARALIMIT) section with new Mid and Side isolation options, allowing users to independently target the centre or stereo information within an isolated high-frequency range. A new filter bank then offers three modes: Linear, Dynamic and Live, each of which provide distinct phase and latency characteristics while maintaining closely matched frequency responses.

In development for over a year, the filter bank is based around a completely custom linear-phase filter architecture which Schwabe Digital say dramatically reduces audible pre-ringing by collapsing it into an extremely short window around the transient. The filter technology was developed entirely in-house, and will form the foundation of filtering systems across future Schwabe Digital products.
