June brought a modest lift in consumer confidence after hitting a three-year low in May, according to the Numerator Consumer Sentiment Tracker.

The June Consumer Confidence Score rose to 54.6 (+0.5 points vs. last month) after May saw sentiment drop to its lowest level since 2022 due to rising gas prices, according to a press release on the tracker data.

Confidence is lower than this point last year (-1 point vs. last year) as 36% report jobs are difficult to find (+4 points).

Nearly four in 10 consumers continue to shop sales, cook at home or use coupons, yet most tracked saving behaviors are less prevalent than last year.

Spending less overall saw the largest decline, down 2.4 points, suggesting consumers are slightly less defensive in their current spending amidst stabilizing financial situations.
