MariaDB Server maintenance releases are here!
On August 24, we released updates for our four currently maintained Long Term Support series:
As usual, these maintenance releases include bug fixes, stability improvements, and ongoing work across MariaDB Server.
You can find the complete release notes and changelogs for each version:
MariaDB 12.3.3MariaDB 11.8.9MariaDB 11.4.13MariaDB 10.11.19If you are running one of these MariaDB Server versions, we recommend reviewing the changelog and planning your upgrade.
Wait… where is MariaDB 10.6?If you followed our previous maintenance release announcements, you probably noticed something missing from the list.
MariaDB 10.6 is no longer there. And that is intentional.
MariaDB Community Server 10.6 reached End of Life on July 6, 2026.
After five years of serving our community, distributions, applications and countless production environments, the 10.6 Community branch no longer receives regular maintenance, bug fixes or security fixes.
We announced this change earlier this year in: MariaDB Server 10.6 Reaches End of Life on July 6th.
There was, however, one final release.
MariaDB 10.6.28 was released on August 13 and is the final release of the MariaDB 10.6 series.
So if you are still running MariaDB 10.6, 10.6.28 is the version you should be running while you prepare your migration — but the important part is to prepare that migration now.
There will be no MariaDB Community Server 10.6.29.
Four maintained LTS seriesWith MariaDB 10.6 now EOL, this is the actively maintained Community LTS landscape:
| Series | Community maintenance until |
|---|---|
| MariaDB 12.3 | 2029 |
| MariaDB 11.8 | 2028 |
| MariaDB 11.4 | 2029 |
| MariaDB 10.11 | 2028 |
If you are upgrading from MariaDB 10.6, all four are newer options, but in most cases you should evaluate a more recent LTS release rather than simply moving to the next number. I would recommend moving directly to 11.8 or 12.3; you will love what you will discover! [1][2][3][4][5]
Of course, always test your application, workload, plugins and configuration before performing a production upgrade. And don’t forget: in MariaDB Server, we support migrating from older versions directly to the newest one, without intermediate steps.
Now back to our latest maintenance releases. Those releases may not always introduce shiny new features, but they are an essential part of a healthy Open Source project.
They contain the continuous work of developers fixing bugs, contributors submitting patches, users reporting problems, people reproducing issues, testers validating fixes, package maintainers making the software available on different platforms, and everyone participating in the MariaDB community.
This work is what keeps the MariaDB Server versions you run in production stable and secure.
Thank you for your contributions!MariaDB Server is developed in the open, and every maintenance release benefits from contributions from across our community.
So, on behalf of the MariaDB Foundation:
Thank you to everybody contributing to MariaDB Server!
And a big thank you to these external contributors:
MariaDB Server is Open Source, and contributions are always welcome. If you want to participate, check out our Community Contributions Process and join us.
And if you are still running MariaDB 10.6…
now is really the time to upgrade! 🦭
