One plane passenger who had trouble opening her water bottle on a flight has divided social media users.

Michelle Joseph explained in a video on social media how she was given a free bottle of water during the journey.

However, she admitted she finds them 'particularly hard to open' and normally struggles with opening bottles, often turning to others nearby for help.

During a journey to Switzerland, Michelle found herself stuck next to a sleeping passenger and couldn't ask for help with her bottle. 

In the end she gave herself a 'headache, because the rush leaving the airport, getting home, all of that, [she] didn't drink enough water,' she explained, in a video reshared by daadisnacks on TikTok.

However, on the flight home, she asked a British Airways flight attendant for assistance and claims she 'had some attitude' from them and was left 'too stunned to speak'.

The passenger explained how she asked, 'Would you mind unscrewing the bottle, please?' and the air hostess reportedly replied, 'Sorry, what?'

She then repeated the question and the flight attendant apparently said, 'Is it that hard?'

The traveller went on to describe the worker as 'condescending' and explained how she didn't feel there was a need for the response, arguing the flight attendant wasn't to know if she needed assistance or not because of a wrist injury, for example. 

However, several people have shared their views on the situation online, with some agreeing with the passenger and others not. 

One Mile At A Time writer Ben Schlappig felt the traveller should have communicated her problem with water bottles better to the flight attendant who then might have been happier to help. 

Daadi, who goes by @daadisnacks on TikTok, shared his take in a video and said: 'I'm sorry but how is it the responsibility of the flight attendant who is looking after the safety of 150 people to make sure that a 30-year-old adult can find an adequate source of hydration?'

But some commenters on Daadi's video defended the passenger and one said: 'God please go watch the original before commenting guys.'

Someone else replied: 'I did and thank you for letting me know because she was totally not a Karen and that flight attendant was rude.'

'The whole video is less incriminating,' one social media user added. 'The woman knows she struggles with the bottles from that airline so she asked the flight attendant to open hers. 

'While the woman didn't have a broken wrist, she was pointing out hypothetical accessibility reasons someone would need a bottle opened. 

'Opening a bottle is not a crazy or time-consuming thing to ask for, and it is a little odd that the flight attendant responded how she did.'

Another person shared: 'I have really bad grip strength, so I understand why someone would ask a flight attendant for help. 

'But a simple "I'm struggling to open this bottle, please can you help me out?" probably would've worked in her favour.'

Others were less sympathetic and one simply said: 'Flight attendants are not waitresses.'
