For the sake of the nation, we can only hope that, on this, America agrees with veteran Democratic strategist James Carville: "I'm not in that f-ing party."

Gov. JB Pritzker left no doubt about where he stands in the growing schism within the Democratic party about its surge toward the radical left. CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked him directly on June 30 if it’s good that Democratic primary voters recently chose Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates over more moderate Democratic incumbents.
Pritzker answered that as long as they are talking about affordability and oppose Trump, “those are the people who are winning” and embracing progressive/in Democratic Socialist candidates is “the recipe for winning in 2026 and beyond.” Here’s the clip:
JB Pritzker says embracing Socialism is how Democrats are going to win elections:
CNN: “In New York, three candidates who identify as Democratic Socialists won their primary campaigns…Do you think that’s good?”

Many key Democrats are revolting against the growing elements of socialism in their party. As the left-leaning Guardian put it:
Over the last few days, prominent party figures have moved away from unifying under a “blue no matter who” banner to push for a more formal break with their left flank, and said the moment may have arrived for Democrats to confront their more socialist wing.
No less than veteran Democratic political advisor James Carvill recently said “it’s time for Democrats to talk the S-word: schism,” He added that some DSA-aligned candidates “have no place in the Democratic party” and, of the broader coalition: “I’m not in that fucking political party.”
Other prominent Democrats speaking up against the party’s growing leftism include Jaime Harrison, the former chair of the Democratic national committee, former New York governor David Paterson and former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. And the left-leaning Atlantic wrote that, while the DSA is “anything but Democratic,” its clever subversion of the Democratic Party will be difficult to stop.
In case you don’t already know – and you should – here’s some of what the DSA supports:
For the sake of the nation, we can only hope that, on this, America agrees with James Carville: “I’m not in that f-ing party.”

Wait until IL, CA and NY all get their Spanberger governor. The one who touts being a moderate to win then once elected goes complete DSA. JB, Newsom and Hochal will all look like moderates to the DSA models…

The healthcare problem in this country needs to be addressed. If the Republicans still only have the concept of a plan then any solution is going to look appealing regardless of whether it comes from communists, socialists, conservatives or liberals. People need affordable healthcare.

Spot on. Big mistake for the GOP to ignore healthcare. Generally speaking, the concerns about inequality are huge and that’s what’s driving the popularity of socialism and the far left. Some of those concerns about inequality are misperceptions, but some of it is very real and we better get serious about addressing it (not that I have all the answers about how to do that). Healthcare is part of it.

You’re absolutely right. The republicans have promised to end Obamacare and replace it with a better plan but nothing has ever come of this. I think the reasons for this are a.) it would be extremely hard to do and b.) it wouldn’t get much support, even from republicans.

Was he ever anything else than a communist? A real loser that inherited his wealth, advocating for a system where he will be more equal than the rest of you. Go ahead and discuss this like it isn’t a sickness taking over the democratic party. Your next governor, king and master will tell you what of your wealth you can keep. Tell me again how you aren’t slaves.

JBP & his ilk are all in for socialism for – YOU & ME…
They will continue their capitalistic ways at our expense…
All those chumps that vote for socialists will find out much too late that they are not going to be in with the elites, but with the rest of us proles…

My assumption has been that should Pritzker make that Presidential run the Illinois media stands to reap plenty of campaign advertising dollars. Most likely Pritzker won’t get the nod evaporating the hopes of the Illinois media. After the election reality will hit these establishments but, I assume, to them that’s a problem for another day. Actually, all in all, life is that way in Illinois; kick the problem can down the road with the hope someone else will pay the bills.

Not sure Illinois media makes its news reporting decisions on how much campaign advertising dollars it gets from a particular candidate, but it’s an interesting theory.

It is a conservative website, so that is to be expected. I am not a fan of IL politics, of which Pritzker purchased the top position. I’m curious what you think he’s done well to improve our lives in IL..? I see/feel taxes rising year over year as population and businesses leave, but I don’t see or feel any improvement in my standard of living, our infrastructure, or the lives of the disadvantaged. He’s playing games to claim a balanced budget while increasing costs for all Illinoisans in the future.

Excellent question. This poster has been asked questions like this before…and nothing. Because there is nothing. Every single thing Jumbo has done, every law, every bill, every-everything has hurt the average Illinois resident, family and tax payer. He lies directly to your face and them panders to his voting base…which are the people who want the rest of Illinois to take care of them.
Go ahead…ahumsa42…prove me wrong.

Handing out goodies to the free stuff army is the way to get elected in Illinois. The rest of the voters it seems are too busy watching sports ball to care. The results are what Illinois has become and will used to quash Pritzker’s Presidential run. In short, we in Illinois all go down together.

The challenge is that Newsom is the likely opposition at the Primary level. They’ll both stay mum on the financial status or their respective states and blather on about DSA ideals. All the Republicans need to do is find a reasonably normal candidate and they should win in a landslide.

I’m not so sure JB and Gavin will be fighting it out for the nomination. Neither Jimmy Carter nor Bill Clinton were known quantities 2 years before their respective presidential elections, yet they both became president. There is a democratic governor of a red southern state (Andy Beshear of Kentucky) who could be a dark horse candidate who could emerge and win the nomination. If that were to happen, I think that could be very problematic for the republicans in 2028.
