Europe is on fire during the summer of 2026. But Sicily in 1905 is experiencing winter, as Mount Etna is covered in snow, and Enzo Favara has just recently officially joined the ranks of the Torrisi family.

Picking up between chapters 5 and 6 of its main story, Mafia: The Old Country’s new expansion, “Man of Honor,” adds two new chapters to its campaign in an “Intermezzo.” These chapters revolve around a younger version of Don Salieri, from Mafia 1’s city of Lost Heave

Recently released from prison and owed a favor by Don Torrisi for keeping his mouth shut, Salieri calls upon the Torrisis to cash in that favor. His former associates robbed him and ran off with all his belongings while he was doing time. He wants to take back what’s his and get revenge. The Don orders Cesare and Enzo to help Salieri settle this matter—quietly. But as Luca warns Enzo… Salieri has a fire in him.

Salieri is brash, impulsive, but calculated. If he sees something he wants, he takes it. This younger version of Salieri is a perfect precedent to the Don he’ll become of his own family when he moves to America. In fact, that move to America is what these two chapters are all about. Salieri was preparing to head off to the land of opportunity before he supposedly got robbed.

It’s a good excuse for us to return to Sicily. New areas are added to the map, like the lodge, Salieri’s warehouse, and more, and a few new weapons, outfits, and more add extra punch to Enzo’s arsenal and wardrobe. While helping Salieri get revenge on his former associates, he also sees an opportunity to take far more than he originally came for. And that might get Enzo and Cesare in some trouble, especially with the former having recently joined the family and trying to prove himself.

Story-wise, Man of Honor is nothing particularly special. The new chapters took me about two to three hours to complete, but their best additions were extra character moments between Cesare and Enzo, and Isabella and Enzo. Seeing more of Don Torrisi’s performance as an actual Don was also a delight, with the expansion opening with the entire valley coming to ask for favors and his help. And more Sicily is welcome regardless.

Other than that, Salieri isn’t really substantially built on as a character. He enters and exits the story quite quickly, and the interesting history he has with his former associates, why they betrayed him, if they really stole from him or not and more isn’t really expanded upon.

Man of Honor‘s more substantial additions are in the Free Ride mode. Since launch, Free Ride has already received a few free updates with missions, races, and more being added. And Man of Honor adds more Salieri-ordered challenges all over the map, adding more hours of play for anyone interested in an excuse to spend more time in The Old Country‘s setting.

For ten bucks, Man of Honor is a decent excuse to return to Sicily. I’ll be curious to see how well the expansion flows with the rest of the story in a full replay of the game, but anyone looking to just play the DLC can hop right into the Intermezzo from the menu.

Personally, I would’ve liked a more substantial story expansion over the abundance of additions to Free Ride, but Man of Honor could’ve easily overstayed it’s welcome in the main campaign that way. If we can expect anything else to come out of The Old Country‘s setting remains to be seen.
