Nuremberg Airport has opened a modernised security checkpoint featuring new CT technology that speeds up screening, removes liquid limits and enhances the passenger experience with faster, more efficient lanes.

Summary:

  • Nuremberg Airport upgrades security with new CT technology, allowing liquids and electronics to remain in bags and removing the 100ml limit.
  • Faster, smoother screening enabled by redesigned lanes with multiple preparation areas, reducing queues and improving passenger flow.
  • Enhanced passenger comfort through modernised checkpoints that increase throughput and minimise hassle during security screening.

Nuremberg Airport has opened a modernised passenger security checkpoint. The security checkpoint has been gradually refurbished over the past few months. The switch to CT technology brings the following changes:

  • Liquids, gels and electronic devices (such as smartphones, tablets or laptops) may remain in hand luggage during security screening.
  • There is no upper limit on the number of liquids and gels that may be carried in hand luggage. The respective airline’s regulations regarding the dimensions and size of hand luggage items naturally continue to apply.
  • The previous 100ml limit for liquids and gels no longer applies; liquids in leak-proof containers with a capacity of up to 2 litres may be taken through security.
  • Liquids and gels no longer need to be packed in transparent 1-litre plastic bags.
  • Liquids in takeaway coffee cups or similar non-spill-proof containers cannot be screened by the CT scanners and will therefore be rejected.

Another benefit for travellers is that each screening lane has several storage areas for placing jackets, bags, etc. on the conveyor belts. This allows passengers who need more time to be ‘overtaken’, which in turn reduces waiting times.
