Lucas: Special status jobs a bad idea

Under the bill, which is making its way favorably through the Legislature, an 11-member commission will be established to, among other things, specifically seek out Massachusetts Muslims for state jobs.

Can’t find a job?

Become a Muslim.

Chances are you will be on the state payroll in a week. Or a week after the state’s new bill creating a special commission aimed at prioritizing Muslims for state jobs becomes the law.

And you will receive benefits galore—good pay, health care, maternity leave, vacations, sick time and a pension.

Apparently, no Christians or Jews need apply. Nor should any Buddhists, Hindus, Jehovah Witnesses, atheists and agnostics think about applying either.

There is no room at the inn for them.

It is too bad the bill was not law 25 years ago when a group of Muslim al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked two planes out of Logan Alport and crashed them into the Twin Towers in New York on Sept. 11, 2001, killing 2,996 people.

Had it been the law, those hijackers could have been given jobs cleaning the planes instead of hijacking them.

Interestingly, in New York more than 20,000 families of 911 victims have signed a petition to keep New York Muslim Mayor Zohran Mamdani away from its upcoming solemn ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the attack. Mamdani said he is going to attend anyway.

In Massachusetts progressive Gov. Maura Healey could also commemorate the anniversary by signing the Muslim benefits bill into law the same day.

Under the bill, which is making its way favorably through the Legislature, an 11-member commission will be established to, among other things, specifically seek out Massachusetts Muslims for state jobs.

No other religious or ethnic group is mentioned in the legislation. Massachusetts, with a population of 7.5 million, has less than 150,000 Muslims, or less than two per cent of the total population.

Some 52% of the population identifies as Christian while 4% are Jewish.

The bill was proposed by progressive Democrat state Sen. James Eldridge of Acton and has the support of many left-wing Democrats at the State House.

These are progressives who deplore anti-Muslim discrimination but have little to say about the growing number of attacks against Jews, once a voting group that was the backbone of the Democrat Party.

However, the growing influence of the anti-Israel, antisemitic Democrat Socialists of America over the Democrat Party has led many Democrats to shamelessly turn against the Jews.

Under the bill, Muslims would get special treatment for state jobs over any other group.

It specifically states that the eleven-member commission would “identify and recommend qualified American Muslims for appointive positions at all levels of government, including boards and commissions, as the commission considers necessary an appropriate.”

Eldridge said, “Massachusetts has always prided itself on being a leader in equality and civil rights, a legacy this bill builds on.”

Which may be true. But how is it equal to prioritizing one group over another?

The  Muslim bill comes on the heels of legislation that would give illegal immigrants special status when it comes to civil arrets by ICE agents in courthouses and schools. The bill codifies an earlier Healey executive order.

The immigration bill also empowers the governor to prohibit ICE arrests in non-public areas of state facilities.

Want a job? Become a Muslim.

Want to avoid jail? Become an illegal.

It’s the new Massachusetts
