The Repair Shop fans all made the same X-rated joke after watching a local town crier ask the BBC experts to save her bell on Wednesday's episode. 

The hit show mended and restored a number of items, including a tiny dictionary, an ice cream trailer and the bell for Kila Redfearn, a town crier for Lytham.

The Lancashire native appeared on the show with a faded hand bell and asked the experts to give it a shine befitting her important role - and they were more than happy to oblige. 

But while Kila was overjoyed by the results, viewers couldn't help but see the funny side of the restoration.

The town crier appeared on the show and presented her bell to Will Kirk and Brenton West, who were intrigued by its story. 

Will said: 'I was going to say what do we have here but it's quite obvious it's a bell right?

'I presume its not to call the family down for dinner?'

Kila replied: 'No I do a lot of crying as I'm the first ever woman of Lytham to be a town crier.'

Will replied in shock: 'Wow you are the first town crier I've ever met.'

The guest continued: 'This bell was passed down to me when I was inaugurated on the 12th March 2023 and it's a volunteer position and it's a lifetime role, which I absolutely love.'

Kila then explained how she had become a town crier after seeing someone else in the role in her twenties, although she wanted to have a go later in life. 

She explained: 'In my late teens or early 20s I saw a town crier and the regalia was amazing and I thought wow that's what I want to do - the pomp the ceremony.'

She added that she took over the role from the previous town crier, Colin, who was emigrating to Australia and was in search of a replacement for the role.

Kila offered her services and took on the role and despite enjoying it, she was disappointed by the bell. 

She told the repairing expert that she felt it needed some love and to be restored to its former glory.  

When asked what was wrong with the bell, Kila said: 'The nut that's on the end - it definitely wasn't original and I feel like there should be something a little more grand to the end of the bell.

'And I'm sure it might have been a little bit shinier, it's just not very exciting.'

Brenton asked: 'Why does it need to be exciting?'

To which Kila replied: 'Because I'm exciting, because I'm the town crier and also it would be really nice to have a baldric.'

Kila's request completely surprised the pair with Will interrupting Kila to ask what a baldric was.

The guest explained it was a holder for the bell, explaining: 'It's a sort of a holster belt type thing that they can put the bell into.'

And the duo were more than happy to oblige. 

While the two experts and Kila didn't find anything funny in the request, viewers of the show couldn't help but make a series of X-rated jokes about the item. 

Fans of the hit BBC show took to social media to share their hilarious thoughts, writing: 'Cheeky town crier. "Can you mend my bell, oh and knock up a whole new holster for it too while you’re faffing about".

Another simply wrote: 'Decorative nuts'

One person said: 'Tell me I’m not the only one making ‘bell end’ gags while watching #therepairshop'.

A fourth joked: 'Oooh that shiny new bell just slips in to it's holster perfectly. With a lovely decorative nut and perfectly polished shaft... oh yay!! #therepairshop.'

And another said it was certainly a different tone for the show than normal, commenting: '#TheRepairShop is much less subtle with its emotional moments than I remember.

Later on in the show, Kila returned in her full regalia complete with a red and electric blue long coat, with a frilly shirt and a tricorne hat complete with a red feather.

The town crier couldn't hide her excitement and being reunited with her bell and admitted that she was so pleased to see it restored, she thought she might cry. 

She confessed: 'Oh my goodness me, it's definitely bright and shiny like me now.

'Look at the top! The top looks phenomenal. Nearly made me cry. 

'I didn't think I'd get emotional about a bell but that's fabulous.'
