Based in Washington, D.C., Andrew Jett of Jett Design Garage operates at the intersection of fine art and engineering. Having studied design in college, Jett’s philosophy is rooted in the concept of the ‘focused experience.’ For him, a motorcycle isn't a collection of specs; it’s a creative medium used to merge functionality with flair. His mission is simple: create beyond the ordinary.
For Adam Taylor, the owner of this striking Ducati 749, the project was deeply personal. In 2005, a red-framed 749 was the trophy for his success in the restaurant industry. But when life pivoted toward building his current financial practice, the bike was sold to keep the lights on. It was a sacrifice that came with a silent promise: "One day, I will own another."
That promise was eventually shaped by the neon-soaked minimalism of Tron: Legacy. Adam envisioned a machine that captured the ‘futuristic restraint’ of a Sam Flynn cafe racer while respecting the sharp lines of Pierre Terblanche’s original 749 design. After following Andrew Jett’s work for years, the stars aligned: a low-mileage 2005 donor bike (the same year as his first) was sourced, and the restoration of a life chapter began.
The visual impact is immediate. Jett Design fabricated bespoke half-fairing side panels and ‘fairing wings’, giving the bike a predatory stance. The front fairing was completely shaved to delete the bulky mirrors, and topped with a custom 'low rise' 1-of-1 windscreen.
The tail is a work of art. Jett used a hand-built titanium exhaust system sourced from Moto Corse in Italy, which is neatly tucked away beneath Corsa Garage carbon fiber heat shielding that was further modified in-house. It is routed under a Desmosedici RR-style unit with top venting, mounted to a shaved OE subframe using adjustable carbon rods.
Kevin Petitt of Pettitbilt laid down a one-off mix of pearl white and metallic black, accented by hand-brushed gold pin striping. At the rear of the tank sits the tricolor, a subtle nod to the bike’s Bologna roots.
Despite its looks, this bike isn’t all show and no go. Jett installed K&N filters and a dedicated crankcase breather kit, a move that allowed him to delete the bulky factory EVAP system and significantly clean up the engine bay's visual clutter. This, along with other modifications and lightweight materials enabled Jett to successfully reduce the Ducati’s wet weight to a staggering 385 lbs, a massive 45-lb reduction over the stock Biposto.
To ensure the rider’s connection to this lightened machine was as sharp as its silhouette, the cockpit was completely overhauled with high-end tactile components. A Speedy Moto billet aluminum triple clamp setup provides a rigid foundation for the front end, complemented by CRG fully adjustable billet levers and Domino WSBK-style grips.
After a year of meticulous labor, the result is a 1-of-1 restomod that feels both archival and experimental. For Adam Taylor, this isn't just about the light weight or the unique aesthetics . It is about a promise kept. "Some bikes you ride," Adam notes. "Some bikes remind you who you are."
