An important aspect of eye protection with OLED screens is reducing flicker. The combination of high-frequency PWM and DC dimming at up to 3,840 Hz significantly reduces the perception of flicker. Our measurements using an oscilloscope also confirm these values. For the Xiaomi 17T, we measured a frequency of approximately 3,846 Hz.

In addition, there is an Eye Comfort Mode that can be activated in the settings menu. According to Xiaomi, this mode uses various sensors including a 360° dual light sensor with 16,000 dimming levels to control the display in a way that’s easy on the eyes - based on room brightness, the time of day, and the human circadian rhythm. If you wish, you can also manually reduce blue light or enhance textures.
