Amazon is now offering a substantial $600 discount for an extremely powerful 18-inch gaming laptop, the Acer Predator Helios Neo 18 AI, bringing its price down to a far more reasonable $2,199. 

Featuring a powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and a whopping 32 GB of RAM, the Neo 18 gaming laptop has not been this affordable in a long time. This specific variant of the laptop also comes equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU, 2 TB of storage, and an 18-inch IPS display with a refresh rate of 240 Hz.

According to Laptop Media's review of the Neo 18 gaming laptop, the 24-core Core Ultra 9 275 HX CPU performs well enough, but it does fall behind some of its 18-inch competitors. The 140-watt GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU manages to perform as expected, keeping up with its similarly equipped 18-inch gaming rivals. However, when both the CPU and GPU are taxed at the same time, clock speeds do seem to drop below average.

The gaming laptop also features a 2.5K mini LED IPS display with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. Acer claims complete coverage of the DCI-P3 and sRGB color gamut, along with a peak brightness of around 500 nits and a whopping 2,000 mini LED zones to minimize haloing in dark scenes and improve contrast.

Laptop Media's review unit was equipped with a slightly inferior display, but it did manage to hit 99% coverage of DCI-P3 color gamut, verifying Acer's claims, while also impressing in terms of color accuracy. Clearly, content creators are also likely to be very pleased with the Helios 18 gaming laptop's display quality. 

Battery life turned out to be very decent. The review unit managed to hang around for almost 5 hours and 50 minutes in Laptop Media's video playback test, which is well above other 18-inch gaming laptops and even trades blows with some 16-inch gaming laptops out there.

The Helios 18 gaming laptop is also quite easy to service with good upgradability prospects. The RAM, storage, and networking cards can all be upgraded and swapped if necessary, courtesy of dual SODIMM slots, dual M.2 slots, and an M.2 2230 slot respectively.

At its current discounted price on Amazon, folks who require a powerful 18-inch gaming laptop are likely to be pleased with the overall performance of the Acer Predator Helios Neo 18 Gaming Laptop.
