The independent Japanese microbrand Kiwame Tokyo has unveiled two new Calatrava-inspired dress watches, the Yane KT401 and the Yane KT402. Inspired by the historic temples of Asakusa, the company’s new watches are named after the Japanese word for roof. This time around, Kiwame Tokyo has opted for a rectangular case rather than the circular-shaped case.
Speaking more precisely, the Yane models boast a 44 mm rectangular stainless steel case, which has a width of 26.5 mm and a thickness of 9.7 mm (0.38 inch). The case replicates the design of the traditional Japanese temple architecture. You get the simple and minimalist dial design. The dial is adorned with two analog hands and the only index at 12 o’clock, which has the design of a ridge; that’s it. There are no hour markers or day or date windows.
Under the hood, the Japanese Miyota 6T27 automatic movement powers the Yane models. It’s a three-hand movement, which is designed specifically for compact watches. This automatic movement features 21 jewels, a high-beat 4 Hz frequency, and 40 hours of power reserve. The company offers black and brown lacquer dial colorways. Furthermore, the KT401 black model ships with a black leather strap, while the brown model comes with a brown leather strap with quick-release spring bars. The Yane is rated for 3 bar (30 m) water resistance.
It’s worth noting that the preorders for the first batch of Yane models (limited to 400 pieces only) will begin on 19th August 2026 at 11:00 (JST) directly from Kiwame Tokyo’s official website. The Yane models are priced at $730 each.
