The Hoverair Versa 2-in-1 self-flying handheld gimbal camera has launched on Indiegogo. The 4K 60p 3-axis gimbal can be handheld to film selfies for social media posts, or docked to its Flight Kit base to convert it into a self-flying drone. The entire kit weighs just 230 g (8.1 oz.) for convenient everyday carry and use.

When users want to film themselves with a drone that can automatically track and follow them, they can dock the 163 g (5.7 oz.) Hoverair Versa gimbal into its 67 g (2.4 oz.) Flight Kit drone base. The two are secured using the MagLatch system to provide power from the gimbal to the drone propellers through pogo pins. The drone can fly up to 60 kph (22.3 mph) while tracking targets.

As a drone, the gimbal's 2,070 mAh, 14.74 Wh, 7.12 V li-ion battery provides up to 14 minutes of autonomous flight time before recharging. When undocked, the battery provides up to 180 minutes of runtime to the gimbal, according to Hoverair. The battery takes up to 70 minutes to recharge, and a spare battery can be swapped in anytime.

The Versa connects to a smartphone over Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6. When used as a drone, it has a rated communications range of up to 500 m (1,640 ft.) in areas with a clear line of sight, according to the company. The user can control the drone using hand gestures, voice commands through the Smart Mini MiCo controller, or the smartphone app.

The Hoverair Versa 2-in-1 gimbal can be pre-ordered for as low as $449 with a project pledge on Indiegogo, with deliveries expected to begin in October 2026.
