Speaking to PetaPixel, the company’s founder confirmed that the GXAce GX-P1 was specifically designed for photography rather than videography. The camera captures photos with an aspect ratio of 65:24 – the same format as the Hasselblad XPan. The body is said to be small enough to carry the camera in a pants pocket. The lens is anamorphic, and judging by the images, it appears to be permanently attached to the camera, interchangeable lenses are not expected.

Thanks to the anamorphic lens, the camera can capture ultra-wide panoramic photos on a conventional 3:2-format sensor, though it is unclear how large this sensor will be. The GXAce GX-P1 is expected to be available for pre-order via a crowdfunding platform before the end of the year. Details regarding specifications or price are not yet known.
