Lenovo has finally released one of its Intel Wildcat Lake-based ThinkPads in the US. Also available in Canada and elsewhere as part of a global release, the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 combines efficient processors with a 400-nit display and upgradeable memory for $1,399.
Moreover, Lenovo restricts the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 (Wildcat Lake) in North America to a 48 Wh battery. Meanwhile, other markets have received a 64 Wh optional battery rated for over 33 hours of usage in some official battery life tests at 200 nits. Setting that aside, the 14-inch laptop has reached North America with a fingerprint reader, a backlit keyboard and an Intel AX211 modem handling Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
Pricing starts at CAD 1,939 and $1,399 in North America, compared to CAD 1,559 and $1,199 in the same markets for Intel Panther Lake-powered alternatives. It is worth noting that the latter are discounted prices though. By contrast, Lenovo has assigned CAD 1,559 and $1,539 MSRPs to the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 with Intel Panther Lake processors.
Hence, we suspect that these Wildcat Lake SKUs will eventually receive similar discounts. To that end, Lenovo continues to offer launch discounts in Europe, where Wildcat Lake models start at £826 in the UK rather than £1,109. Similarly, Eurozone pricing varies between €761 and €1,016.
