The HP OmniBook 3 (14-hz0488nr) is now widely available in the US. Priced at $599.99, the new lightweight 14-inch laptop undercuts the MacBook Neo (curr: $699 on Amazon) while offering better specifications in several areas, including the display, battery, and connectivity.

Buyers can purchase the laptop at Best Buy, where it is currently discounted to $499.99, or preorder it on Amazon for $599.99. Interestingly, the same configuration costs $749.99 on HP’s online store. All three listings are for the base model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, like the MacBook Neo. However, 8 GB could prove more limiting on the OmniBook, as Windows tends to eat too much memory.

That said, the OmniBook 3 (14-hz0488nr) is powered by the Snapdragon X X1-26-100, the slowest chip in the Snapdragon X series. It has eight Oryon CPU cores running at up to 2.98 GHz, a 45 TOPS NPU, and 30 MB of cache. Compared with the A18 Pro in the MacBook Neo, the Snapdragon delivers stronger multi-core performance but falls behind in single-core and graphics performance.

Upfront, the OmniBook 3 has a 14-inch OLED display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. It is on the dimmer side, though, reaching only 300 nits compared with the Neo’s 500-nit IPS display. The OmniBook also has a larger 60 Wh battery, which HP claims can last up to 41 hours and 45 minutes in its official testing.

Buyers get a wider selection of ports as well, including two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a headphone jack, and two full-function 10 Gbps USB-C ports. Other highlights include a 1080p webcam with a privacy shutter and Wi-Fi 6E support. The laptop checks in at 12.38 x 8.90 x 0.58 inches and weighs only 3.13 pounds.
