FAIRLEA, W.Va. — A Nicholas County man is behind bars facing charges of online solicitation of a minor.

Deputies this week arrested Adam Hamm of Summersville on two charges. One count of employment or use of a minor to produce obscene matter or assist in sexually explicit conduct and another charge of soliciting a minor via computer.

According to investigators, Hamm met the juvenile victim at the 2025 State Fair in Greenbrier County. Their contact continued through texting and on-line gaming. Investigators allege Hamm and the juvenile had discussions which involved requests for illicit photos with offers of gaming-related items for the game Fortnite as trade including V-Bucks and Battle Pass purchases. Sheriff’s Deputies also contend Hamm expressed interest in meeting the juvenile in person again this week at the State Fair.

Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney Nicole Campbell, and Greenbrier County Sheriff Bart Baker used the incident to remind parents to closely monitor who their children are making contact with on social media, gaming platforms or messaging apps.

“Child predators use these apps to make contact and groom children. The best protection is prevention. If you believe your child is being targeted please contact your local law enforcement immediately,” they said in a press release about the incident.
